Kyle is an associate in the Houston office of Mayer Brown, a member of the Intellectual Property practice, and a registered patent attorney. Kyle focuses his practice on patent disputes, intellectual property transactions, and patent counseling. Kyle has represented clients from a wide range of industries, including in the chemical, oil and gas, semiconductor, financial services, and consumer electronics industries.
Kyle’s patent litigation practice includes representing clients in both district court litigation and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Kyle has worked on all phases of district court litigation, through discovery and trial. In addition, as a member of Mayer Brown’s Post-Grant Patent practice, Kyle has represented clients in inter partes review and covered business method patent review proceedings and on appeal from the Board to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Kyle has also written and presented on the subject of trial proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board on multiple occasions.
As part of his transactional and counseling practice, Kyle has frequently assisted clients with intellectual property aspects of transactions ranging from commercial agreements to mergers and acquisitions to project finance. Kyle has also provided counseling to clients on patent issues, such as invalidity and noninfringement, including drafting formal opinions.
