Kara Gibney is counsel in Mayer Brown’s litigation group, and a member of the telecommunications subgroup. Her practice focuses primarily on telecommunications, utilities and regulatory litigation. Kara has significant experience in state regulatory proceedings and state and federal court cases at both trial and appellate levels across the nation in matters relating to the Telecommunications Act of 1996. In the area of telecommunications, Kara has experience in state commission arbitrations and in Section 251/252 and Section 271 proceedings before the FCC and in related state and federal court litigation.
Kara joined Mayer Brown in 1998, following two years of practice with the Iowa Department of Justice. After law school graduation she served as a judicial clerk in 1995-96 with the Iowa Court of Appeals, for the Honorable Judge Hayden and Judge Streit.
