Josh McGettigan is a foreign qualified lawyer in the Environmental practice of the London office with experience in advising on planning and environmental law. Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2016, Josh worked in the Local Government and Environment Department of one of New Zealand's largest law firms.
Since qualifying in New Zealand, Josh has been involved primarily with advising local government clients in their regulatory, land-owner and infrastructure providing roles on issues arising under planning, public works, and environmental legislation. This included advising on treatment of complex resource consent applications, processes and requirements for local plan reviews and changes; appearing as junior counsel in hearings of consent applications for infrastructure projects (e.g. for upgrades of a wastewater treatment plant and a community drinking water supply) and as junior counsel for matters before the Environment Court such as declaration and enforcement proceedings. Josh also attended to and advised on the transactional side of matters relating to public works projects, such as acquisition of land for highways of national significance.
