Carlos Hartveld is an associate in the Corporate and M&A practice of Tauil & Chequer Advogados at the Rio de Janeiro office, currently seconded at Mayer Brown’s Chicago office. He advises on major domestic and cross-border reorganizations and M&A transactions. Carlos was responsible for the day-to-day relationship with many clients in the Rio office, including those from Argentina, Spain, the U.S., Angola and China. He has experience coordinating and leading internal teams, including attorneys from other practices such as tax and regulatory. Carlos also has experience drafting and negotiating several transactional documents, from memorandums of understanding and management service contracts to acquisition agreements, investment agreements and construction contracts.
Prior to joining Tauil & Chequer Advogados, Carlos has worked as a law clerk in Vale S.A.’s headquarters (2010-2011), at the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP (2010), and at the Rio offices of Motta, Fernandes Rocha Advogados (2009) and Bastos-Tigre, Coelho da Rocha e Lopes Advogados (2008-2009).
