Angus Duncan is a partner in the Insurance & Reinsurance practice of the London office working with the Lloyd's and companies' markets.
Angus has worked on cases at all levels of the court system in England and Wales, as well as with international lawyers in jurisdictions around the world, including successfully defending Lloyd’s market insurers in a multi-million dollar coverage dispute in the Swiss Supreme Court. He has worked with the leading insurers in the financial lines markets on matters ranging from drafting a suite of financial lines wordings, to advising on global exposures in respect of Madoff-related claims and advising on coverage in connection with various Eastern European bank exposures. Angus has a wide experience of professional indemnity matters including in relation to brokers, actuaries, benefits consultants, surveyors, technology companies, auditors, financial advisers, barristers and solicitors. His recent experience includes advising a range of insurers in connection with tax avoidance claims against a variety of advisers, as well as acting for insurers in connection with a number of high profile, high value D&O matters.
In addition to his work on professional and financial lines, Angus also advises in connection with complex transactional insurance and reinsurance matters including, in particular, working with colleagues in Mayer Brown International's pensions team to advise on pensions de-risking transactions such as bulk annuity buy-ins and buy-outs.
Angus is chairperson of Mayer Brown London’s LGBT group.
