Amanda Plowden is a senior associate in the Commercial Dispute Resolution practice of the London office, having qualified in March 2011. She advises and acts for clients on major litigation and arbitration matters in a variety of commercial contexts. She has experience of handling complex and high value commercial disputes, pursuing claims all the way up to and through trial, as well as using mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism to provide results for clients.
Amanda has a particular focus on finance and corporate related disputes, and also has experience of working in various sectors including publishing, chemicals, energy, advertising, art and insurance.
Amanda has been on secondment to HSBC Bank Plc where she advised on the legal aspects of the anti-money laundering and sanctions review being undertaken by an independent monitor. This involved visiting the bank’s operations on site in both Jersey and Bermuda.
During her training contract, Amanda also spent six months on secondment to the shipping finance department of the Mayer Brown JSM office in Hong Kong. Here, Amanda worked on the financing and re-financing of numerous shipping contracts and developed her in-depth knowledge of South East Asia.
