Sheila Mahadevan is an associate in Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office and is a member of the Employment & Benefits practice where she focuses on global mobility and corporate immigration matters. Sheila advises clients in the financial services, insurance, information technology, defense, and healthcare industries on the development and execution of global mobility strategies for their global workforce. Sheila is highly knowledgeable on the broad spectrum of global mobility and immigration matters facing clients and their employees, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters, and with particular emphasis on solutions for executives, managers, and professionals of multinational companies and organizations.

Sheila is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and currently serves as Vice-Chair of AILA’s New Members Division Steering Committee. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Sheila was an associate in the Washington DC office of a large international immigration law-firm, and she was an associate in the Virginia office of a boutique immigration law firm. Prior to commencing her legal studies, Sheila served as an Immigration Paralegal with two of San Francisco’s leading immigration law firms.

Over the course of her legal career, Sheila has volunteered her time and skills to the DC Bar Pro Bono Program’s Immigration Legal Advice and Referral Clinic, Whitman Walker Health’s Name and Gender Change Clinic, and AILA’s Citizenship Day and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Clinics. Sheila has assisted both U-visa applicants and unaccompanied minors with the filing of benefits applications before USCIS on a pro bono basis.
