Nina Shah is an associate in the New York office of Mayer Brown’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. She primarily represents financial institutions and businesses in cases ranging from complex commercial litigation to criminal and regulatory investigations and related civil proceedings.

In addition to representing corporate clients, Nina maintains an active pro bono practice in areas including habeas corpus, asylum, and election protection. Nina recently briefed and argued an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit on behalf of an indigent prisoner, challenging the constitutionality of his sentence of life imprisonment without parole. Nina also serves on the firm’s New York Women’s Forum Steering Committee.

Nina joined Mayer Brown in 2014, after earning her JD cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was awarded a Certificate of Merit for the best performance in Persuasion & the Law. She was also an editor of the Michigan Journal of Gender & Law and a student attorney with the Human Trafficking Clinic and the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project. Before graduating from law school, Nina worked as a judicial intern to Judge Gladys Kessler of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Nina received her undergraduate degree cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
