Michael S. Stanek is an associate in Mayer Brown’s White Collar Defense & Compliance practice group. Located in Washington DC, Mike focuses his practice on the counseling and defense of corporations and individuals in a variety of enforcement matters, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and federal securities laws and regulations. Mike has extensive experience in designing, managing, and executing global internal investigations and before numerous government enforcement authorities. Mike also counsels clients with respect to anti-corruption compliance policies, procedures, training, and due diligence.

Mike previously was a white collar and securities defense associate with an international law firm. He also served as counsel to US Senator Mazie K. Hirono as Chair of the US Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight, Federal Rights and Agency Action. Mike also advised Senator Hirono on a wide range of issues, including immigration, civil rights, campaign finance reform, data privacy, cyber security, financial services regulation, and intellectual property.

While in law school, Mike was a George Washington Scholar, a Thurgood Marshall Scholar and a Deans Fellow. He was also a notes editor for the Public Contract Law Journal.
