Mary Johnson is an associate in Mayer Brown’s Banking & Finance practice and represents foreign and domestic financial institutions, investors, funds, sponsors, corporate borrowers and other parties in complex banking and financing transactions. Mary’s practice includes negotiating, structuring, documenting and performing due diligence for a broad range of both US and international asset-based finance transactions over a wide range of industries that cover technology, transportation, healthcare and manufacturing. Mary also has experience in transactions involving fund facilities on both a secured and unsecured basis.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2017, Mary was an associate with another prominent law firm in Chicago where she represented corporate lenders and financial institutions in both asset-based and cash-flow commercial finance transactions.

Admitted to practice law in Illinois, Mary received her law degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law in 2014 where she received awards for Miner Moot Court Winner and Outstanding Speaker. While in law school Mary served as Notes and Comments Editor for the Northwestern Law Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property, obtained experience in the Northwestern Bluhm Legal Clinic for International Human Rights and as a certified Mediator at the Cook County Courthouse, and interned for the Honorable Judge Diane Larsen of the Circuit Court of Cook County. While participating in the Northwestern Bluhm Legal Clinic for International Human Rights she co-authored "Human Rights Violations Against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) People in Sri Lanka: A Shadow Report", part of which was considered at the 110th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Committee. Prior to attending law school Mary worked at the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation's Health Access and Climate Change Initiatives from 2007 – 2011. Mary received her BA, with high honors, from the Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business in 2006.
