Clinton Brannon is an Intellectual Property partner in Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office. His practice focuses on patent litigation in federal district courts and AIA inter partes reviews and ex parte patent reexamination proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Clint’s experience encompasses all stages of patent litigation including pre-filing investigations of patent infringement and validity, fact discovery, expert discovery, summary judgment, the claim construction process, trial preparation, jury and bench trials, post trial motions, and appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Clint is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in patent cases. He also has experience with Section 337 investigations before the International Trade Commission, ICC and AAA arbitration proceedings, and supports clients in their patent licensing and valuation efforts.

Clint’s technical knowledge covers a broad range of subjects in the chemical, electrical, and mechanical arts including: 2G, 3G and 4G wireless telecommunications standards; digital telephony; medical devices; JPEG image compression and transmission; golf ball construction and design; business methods relating to asset securitization and the issuance of insurance products; Universal Serial Bus systems; audio / video coder and decoder technologies; ground fault circuit interrupter devices; fluid filtration devices; electrical networks for automotive applications; automotive braking systems; pulse oximeters; helicopter landing gears; small molecule pharmaceuticals; broadcast transmissions; voice-over-internet protocol technologies; and Wi-Fi transmission protocols.

Clint has particular experience addressing antitrust and competition issues associated with intellectual property matters, including those concerning the licensing and enforcement of standard essential patents.

Before beginning his legal career, Clint worked in the telecommunications industry for BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., where he managed network capacity for networks employing a variety of technologies, including synchronous optical networks (SONET), asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switches, DSLAMS used to provide digital subscriber line (DSL) services, digital circuit switches, and various types of multiplexing and packet-switching devices.

While attending law school, Clint served as a Senior Editor on The Alabama Law Review.
