Chad Clamage is a senior associate in Mayer Brown’s Chicago office and is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Supreme Court & Appellate practices. Chad focuses his practice on class action defense and on environmental, toxic tort, and general commercial and consumer fraud litigation. Chad has briefed appeals in the US Supreme Court and in many federal and state courts across the country and has argued matters in the Seventh Circuit and federal and state trial courts. Chad also works alongside trial teams to ensure that appellate arguments are properly preserved and jury instructions and verdict forms are properly crafted.
In his class action practice, Chad represents clients in suits spanning from product liability to securities, banking, antitrust, and employment discrimination law. Chad participates in all phases of litigation, including from initial case assessment to discovery, class certification, trial, and appeals. Chad also contributes to the firm’s Class Defense Blog and has published articles on class action cases in the Supreme Court.
In the environmental and toxic tort area, Chad helped secure key victories in the US Supreme Court and in federal appellate courts for clients facing suits under the Clean Water Act and under state law. Chad also defends clients facing site-based mass tort cases.
Before joining the firm in 2009, Chad served as a law clerk to Judge Diane S. Sykes of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Prior to his clerkship, Chad received his JD with distinction from Stanford Law School and his BA with honors and distinction from Stanford University.
