Andrea L. Hintz is a staff attorney in Mayer Brown’s Intellectual Property group in Chicago. Andrea has experience managing all aspects of trademark prosecution, including trademark clearance, registration, and enforcement, for clients with global trademark portfolios. Andrea counsels clients on availability of trademarks and reviews and prepares trademark searches and opinion letters. In the US, Andrea has analyzed and responded to USPTO Office Actions and has prosecuted and defended marks in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings. Andrea also has experience with domain registration, maintenance, and enforcement, including Trademark Clearinghouse registrations and preparation of Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Policy complaints. For international trademark matters, Andrea regularly interacts and strategizes with foreign counsel regarding international watch notices, oppositions, and office actions responses. In addition to her trademark prosecution and enforcement experience, Andrea has also assisted with the preparation and filing of National Advertising Division complaints and has worked on deposition outlines, responses to discovery requests, exhibit preparation and organization, and other various tasks related to federal litigation matters.

Andrea recently completed an on-site, in-house assignment where she managed a Fortune 500 company’s global trademark portfolio for over three months. During this time, Andrea assisted with domestic and international trademark matters, including trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, investigation of counterfeit and infringing matters, and coordination of customs matters. This assignment allowed Andrea a unique perspective into the challenges and pressures clients face, as well as offered valuable insight regarding how to more effectively counsel clients through these internal challenges.
