Mayer Brown partner Paul de Bernier named to “Most Influential M&A Advisor” list by Los Angeles Business Journal

28 October 2013
Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced that Los Angeles Corporate & Securities partner Paul de Bernier has been named by Los Angeles Business Journal as one of 40 “Most Influential M&A Advisors” in the Los Angeles region. The honorees “served as the backbone of the biggest, most challenging and most important transactions over the past 18 months,” the publication said.

Mr. de Bernier was recognized for his work on major cross-border transactions, including in the entertainment and renewable energy sectors. For example, he advised Oasis Ventures on its investment in Hollywood movie studio Emmet Furla Films, which involved complex multi-jurisdictional issues and pre-investment restructuring of the studio and spinoffs. He also represented Hanergy Group, the largest privately owned clean energy developer in China, in its US acquisition of solar products manufacturer Global Solar Energy, Inc. from Mithril GmbH. This transaction followed Mr. de Bernier’s representation of the same client on its acquisition of California thin film solar company, MiaSole.

At Mayer Brown, Mr. de Bernier focuses his practice on M&A, capital markets and other general corporate matters, with a particular focus on cross-border transactions, including in Europe, Asia and Latin America. He spent several years in Mayer Brown’s London office, where he led the US Corporate & Securities group, and is a co-leader of the firm’s India group and a member of its Africa group.
