Two Mayer Brown partners recognized
in ILO’s 2010 Client Choice Awards

22 April 2010

22 April 2010 – Mayer Brown partners Kenneth Klein and Jean-Philippe Montfort have been recognized by International Law Office (ILO) as 2010 Client Choice Award winners.  Mr. Klein, a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office, was the winner for the Corporate Tax Category in the United States, and Mr. Montfort, a partner in the Brussels office, won the Product Liability category for the European Union.

The ILO Client Choice Awards are awarded based on client assessments from senior corporate counsel and recognize partners around the world who excel across the full spectrum of client service. Partners were judged on the quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, response time, share of expertise and use of technology.

This year, ILO recognized 201 individual winners across 46 jurisdictions, out of more than 2,000 nominations.

Mr. Klein, a firmwide leader of Mayer Brown’s Tax Transactions & Planning practice, advises clients on international taxation, tax planning, tax transactions, tax controversies, and public policy. His tax practice includes planning, structuring/restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, regulations, legislation, private letter rulings, examinations, administrative appeals, and amicus briefs.  He hasrepresented domestic and international clients in numerous industries, including manufacturing, financial institutions, software, transportation, pharmaceuticals, services, real estate, agricultural, trading, and entertainment.

Mr. Montfort heads up Mayer Brown’s EU Product Safety and Liability team.  He regularly provides product safety and regulatory advice to companies in several sectors including chemicals, food packaging, toys, cosmetics and consumer products.  He also advises on product withdrawals, product recalls, and notifications to the authorities at the national and EU level under the GPSD (RAPEX) and the European Food Regulation (RASFF).  Mr. Montfort has handled some of the most prominent product recalls at the EU level in recent years including the “ITX” case for TETRAPAK, and major toy recalls in 2007.
