New Capital Markets Partner for Mayer Brown
5 May 2008
Leading international law firm Mayer Brown is pleased to announce the appointment of John Taylor, a capital markets specialist, to its finance group in London. He will join the firm as partner from the London office of Dewey & LeBoeuf on 6 May.
He has acted for all of the leading investment banks on both investment grade and emerging market issues, while in addition representing monolines and a broad variety of issuers including financial institutions, emerging market issuers, a PFI project company and large investment grade corporates. Although the main focus of his work has been on international bond offerings and debt issuance programmes, he is also actively involved in equity work and issues of structured debt.
John qualified in England and Wales in 1996, and worked for Clifford Chance, focussing on Russia, Ukraine, Romania and the Middle East. He also worked at Allen & Overy before joining Dewey & LeBoeuf.
John Taylor said: "Mayer Brown's strong emerging markets practice attracted me to the firm and I am very much looking forward to joining the well-respected finance team and being involved in the continued development of the capital markets practice. Mayer Brown's commitment to growth in London and internationally, as well as the current state of the global credit market make it a very exciting time to join the firm."
Ian Coles, Head of European Finance practice comments: "We are delighted to welcome John to our well-respected and ever expanding team. We are certain that he will contribute greatly to our growing reputation as providing 'first-class client service all round' to our many high profile clients, as well as attracting many new ones with his wealth of experience and expertise in capital market matters, in particular in Eastern Europe and other emerging markets."
Sean Connolly, London Senior Partner comments: "John's appointment is well timed, as we continue to grow our business aggressively in London throughout 2008 and beyond- he is the seventh partner to join our firm in London this year, following on from a number of key appointments last year. We have also strengthened our offering globally, with our recent merger with JSM, Asia's leading law firm."
