Mayer Brown’s Terri Gillis named president of New York Intellectual Property Law Association

Mayer Brown Intellectual Property partner Terri Gillis has been elected to a one-year term as president of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA) by its members.

“I am honored to lead the talented and highly qualified intellectual property attorneys at NYIPLA,” Ms. Gillis said.  “As intellectual property law continues to develop, we will use the knowledge and experience of our members to advance the legal profession, particularly as it relates to IP law.”  

For many years, Ms. Gillis has served in a variety of roles at NYIPLA including treasurer, secretary and board member.  She has been ranked repeatedly as a leading individual in intellectual property by Chambers USA and in The Best Lawyers in America.

NYIPLA promotes the development and administration of intellectual property and related laws. Its membership is principally composed of lawyers interested in patent, trademark and copyright law who live or work in the jurisdictions of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, namely New York, Connecticut and Vermont, and the District of New Jersey. 

Ms. Gillis’ practice focuses on patent and other intellectual property litigation in a variety of technologies. She also has substantial experience in IP transactional matters and in counseling clients on IP strategy and acquisitions.
