Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw expands its insurance capability with the appointment of Ulrike Mönnich in Cologne

Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP has hired insurance expert, Dr. Ulrike Mönnich to further reinforced its insurance law practice. Previously at Clifford Chance, Dr. Mönnich will start working as counsel in the firm’s Cologne office along with Michael Marx, an associate also from Clifford Chance on August 1, 2007. 
Dr. Ulrike Mönnich specialises in advising national and international companies on insurance contract and regulatory matters. She also advises insurers in connection with M&A transactions, structuring conventional and alternative insurance products and new insurance law developments on a national and European level.
Dr. Mönnich began her career at Bach Langheid in Cologne. She joined Clifford Chance in Düsseldorf in 2000 and was made Counsel in 2005. She holds a Masters in Insurance Law (LL.M.) and teaches insurance supervision law at the University of Mannheim. 
Christof Gaudig, head of the Cologne office and co-head of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw’s German Corporate Practice, commented: “We wanted to continue building our insurance and reinsurance practice, particularly at our German insurance practice headquarters in Cologne.
