Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, has been recognized as one of the 2011 Top Ten Family-Friendly Firms by Yale Law Women, Yale Law School’s student organization devoted to promoting the interests of women in law school and the legal profession. Mayer Brown was one of only four firms to have made the list three years in a row.
“Our inclusion in this prestigious list of family-friendly law firms underscores our continuing commitment to provide attorneys with support programs and policies that help them balance their professional and personal lives,” said Mayer Brown Chairman Bert Krueger.
Family-friendly programs offered to Mayer Brown’s US lawyers include: part-time work opportunities; back-up child care service; up to 18 weeks of paid leave of absence for new parents, including new mothers, new fathers and adoptive parents; and a coaching program to provide support to new parents returning from work from maternity, paternity and adoption leave. The firm also offers up to six weeks paid leave for lawyers who need time to serve as a primary caregiver for elderly family members. In addition, Mayer Brown is a founding member and sponsor of the Project for Attorney Retention, which works to stem lawyer attrition at large firms by promoting work/life balance and the advancement of women in the legal profession.
