Mayer Brown Promotes 27 to Partner Worldwide

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced the promotion of 27 new partners worldwide. The appointments take effect on January 1, 2009.

The new partners are:
Fred Blakeslee, Corporate
Mr. Blakeslee is an attorney in the firm’s Corporate and Securities practice with a focus on private equity transactions, including private equity leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and growth equity investments. Mr. Blakeslee joined the firm in 2007. He received a JD degree, graduating cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Northwestern University School of Law in 2002.
Dana Douglas, Litigation
Ms. Douglas is a litigator working on audit liability, antitrust, white collar and other complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters. Ms. Douglas joined the firm in 2002 after receiving a JD degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2001 and clerking for the Honorable Samuel A. Alito, Jr., US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Hans Germann, Litigation
Mr. Germann is a litigator and member of the telecommunications subgroup. He has significant experience in state and federal regulatory, trial, and appellate litigation involving telecommunications, regulatory and administrative law, commercial disputes, preemption, jurisdiction and antitrust issues. Mr. Germann joined the firm in 2001 after receiving a JD degree from Tulane University Law School.
Barbara Grayson, Wealth Management
Ms. Grayson represents high net-worth individuals and families, with a focus on gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, charitable planning and succession planning. She also represents closely-held businesses, not-for-profit organizations and fiduciaries in estate and trust administration as well as litigation. Ms. Grayson joined the firm in 2001 after receiving a JD degree, graduating magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
Simon Gottlieb Grieser, Finance
Mr. Grieser specializes in banking & finance and securitization. He focuses on non-performing loans and performing loan transactions where he advises sellers, investors and financiers. He was involved in almost all major transactions of this kind in Germany and the first non-performing loan transaction in Austria. Dr. Simon Gottlieb Grieser is a frequent speaker on seminars concerning banking and capital market topics and publishes regularly in this field. He joined the firm in 2002 and received a PhD in law from University of Frankfurt am Main.
Andreas Lange, Finance
Mr. Lange specializes in securitization (consumer ABS), derivatives and debt financing. He has large experience in restructuring or trading such instruments (including CDOs). Mr. Lange joined the firm in 2004. He received his law degree from Friedrich-Wilhelm University of Bonn.
Ulrich Worm, Intellectual Property
Mr. Worm specializes in patent litigation and represents clients in patent infringement and nullity proceedings before courts in Germany. In addition to litigating patent cases before German courts he coordinates pan-European and cross-Atlantic patent litigation cases. He also advises on patent license and other technology transfer agreements and has extensive experience in fighting counterfeiting of patent protected products. Mr. Worm joined the firm in 2007. He received a PhD in law from University of Frankfurt am Main in 2001.
Mai Phuong Nguyen, Commercial
Ms. Nguyen has wide experience in corporate, commercial, banking and financial matters and all aspects of investments in Vietnam for multinational corporations and banks and infrastructure projects as well as all other types of projects/transactions including investment structures, tax and foreign exchange issues. Ms. Nguyen received an LLM degree from National University and an LLB degree from Hanoi University.
Ho Chi Minh City
David Lim, Real Estate
Mr. Lim advises on foreign investment projects, general commercial, mergers and acquisitions and all aspects of investments in Vietnam with a particular focus on the real estate sector. Mr. Lim has substantial experience advising on township developments, residential and commercial development projects and resort developments. Mr. Lim actively represents property developers in respect of licensing, joint ventures, sale and leasing matters, financing, and land acquisition issues. Mr. Lim received an LLB degree from The University of Warwick in 1998.
Cindy Y.Y. Au, Real Estate
Ms. Au advises on all aspects of property conveyancing, including sale and purchase, tenancy and mortgages of real estate in Hong Kong. She acts for banks and financial institutions on property-related financing, including building mortgages, as well as other secured and unsecured lending transactions. She also acts for developers on project sale of residential developments and quasi-government bodies on subsidized housing projects and loan schemes. Ms. Au received a JD degree from The University of Hong Kong.
Nicholas Longley, Litigation – Construction
Mr. Longley advises on construction, engineering and construction insurance-related issues. He advises governments, main contractors, subcontractors, insurers and design professionals on disputes in Hong Kong, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. He acts for insurers on construction related insurance, property insurance and professional indemnity issues. Mr. Longley received a Master of Laws degree from the University of Southampton in 1988.
David Mallinson, Real Estate
Mr. Mallinson advises on commercial agreements in the hospitality and broader real estate sectors including joint venture agreements, development/cooperation agreements and management, franchise and ancillary agreements. His practice focuses on the hotel and serviced apartment industry across Asia including China, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. Mr. Mallinson earned an LSF degree from The College of Law, Guildford.
George Polydoros, Real Estate
Mr. Polydoros represents public and private companies in a wide variety of matters involving commercial real estate and property management. He has substantial experience advising and representing corporate clients in connection with their corporate real estate and property management needs, including owned and leased facilities. In addition, George has served an integral role in the establishment of the firm’s national office and industrial leasing practice. Mr. Polydoros received a JD degree from The University of Houston Law Center in 1989.
James Fielden, Litigation- Construction
Mr. Fielden’s practice focuses on international and domestic construction and engineering dispute resolution. He is experienced in all forms of dispute resolution, acts for insurers and acts for and against governments in investment disputes. Mr. Fielden joined the firm in 1997. He graduated from the University of Leeds.
Andrew McGahey, Insurance & Reinsurance
Mr. McGahey is experienced in advising insurers on policy coverage matters involving financial institutions, directors and officers and professional liability insurances. His practice also focuses on defending third party claims brought against professionals and financial institutions. Mr. McGahey joined the firm in 1998 after graduating from Durham University in 1997 and receiving an LPC degree from The College of Law, Guildford the following year.
Christopher Exberger, Finance
Mr. Exberger's practice focuses on senior debt financing with an emphasis in secured and asset based lending transactions. He represents a variety of commercial lending institutions in connection with acquisition financing, cross-border financing, working capital and other strategic financing, in each case, across a broad spectrum of industries. Mr. Exberger joined the firm in 2003. He received a JD degree from New York University School of Law in 2001.
Bronwyn Pollock, Litigation
Ms. Pollock is an experienced litigator who has appeared before numerous federal and state courts and arbitrators. Her practice is focused on complex civil litigation, particularly class-action defense, employment counseling and litigation, and real estate and insurance matters. She has represented clients in a wide array of industries, including financial services, real estate, retail, publishing, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, and education. Ms. Pollock joined the firm in 2000 after receiving a JD degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Todd Bowen, Corporate
Mr. Bowen’s practice focuses primarily on representing private equity and leveraged buyout funds, portfolio companies and strategic investors in connection with leveraged buyouts and other merger and acquisition transactions. He also has represented issuers, underwriters and investors in numerous U.S. and international debt and equity securities offerings. Mr. Bowen joined the firm in 2000 after receiving a JD degree from New York University School of Law.
Henninger Bullock, Litigation
Mr. Bullock is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. He represents pharmaceutical companies, banks, broker-dealers and clearing firms in both state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate level. Mr. Bullock joined the firm in 2001 after receiving a JD degree, graduating cum laude, from Boston College.
Sabina Comis, International
Ms. Comis advises clients on their tax structuring of international transactions and private equity houses on their leveraged buy-outs (often multi-sponsors). In addition, Ms. Comis specializes in tax structuring of private investment funds’ creation. Ms. Comis joined the firm in 2007. She received a LLB degree from the London School of Economics and a LLM degree from the University of Cambridge.
Aimée Latimer-Zayets, Litigation
Ms. Latimer-Zayets’ practice focuses on securities enforcement defense and litigation, antitrust litigation, and white-collar criminal defense. She represents financial services firms, accounting firms, public companies and individuals in investigations and litigation involving the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and other federal and state regulators. Ms. Latimer-Zayets joined the firm in 2006. She received a JD degree, graduating cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1996.
Sydney Mintzer, Government & Global Trade
Mr. Mintzer’s international trade, customs and investment practice is primarily focused on helping clients to comply with US import regulations, optimize global sourcing options, identify markets for export and investment and eliminate barriers to market entry. Mr. Mintzer joined the firm in 2006. He received a JD degree from New York University School of Law in 1998.
Archis Parasharami, Litigation
Mr. Parasharami has extensive experience with the drafting and enforcement of arbitration provisions, and has published a number of articles on the subject. He has written dozens of briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, federal courts of appeals, state appellate courts, and state and federal trial courts on arbitration issues. In addition, Mr. Parasharami has substantial experience opposing class certification and litigating employment-law issues. He also represents clients on a range of issues in the legislative arena. Mr. Parasharami received a JD degree, graduating cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2001.
