Mayer Brown partners in Houston named vice-chairs of Institute for Energy Law committees

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that partners Robert S. Goldberg and William H. Knull, III of the Houston office have been appointed to key volunteer, part-time leadership roles with the Institute for Energy Law (IEL), which provides advanced education for lawyers and other professionals in the energy industry through its educational programs, scholarly publications and membership activities.

Mr. Goldberg has been named Vice Chair of the IEL’s Power and Alternative Energy Practice Committee, which addresses issues affecting the power side of the energy industry, with a particular focus on the development and use of renewable and alternative energy. A co-leader of the firm’s Renewable Energy Group, Mr. Goldberg advises on domestic and international project finance and development transactions of all kinds in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including conventional and renewable power, oil and gas and toll roads.

Mr. Knull has been named Vice Chair of the IEL’s Energy Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Committee, a new group that will devote itself to issues on the dispute side across all areas of the global energy industry. He is a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s International Arbitration group and has been engaged for more than 30 years in resolving complex business disputes through arbitration and litigation, many of which have involved cross-border transactions in the oil and gas industry.
