Mayer Brown Partner Phil Recht Elected as Chairman of the Central City Association of Los Angeles

Philip R. Recht, a partner in the Los Angeles office of leading global law firm Mayer Brown LLP, has been elected to serve as the Chair of the Central City Association of Los Angeles (CCA), L.A.’s premier business advocacy organization. As Chair, Mr. Recht leads CCA’s group of 2009 Officers and represents more than 450 businesses, trade associations and non-profits on a broad range of issues important to the development and growth of Los Angeles.
"The Central City Association has been integral to the revitalization and diversification of Los Angeles,” said Mr. Recht. “I'm honored and privileged to serve as Chair, and look forward to continuing the leadership and momentum of my predecessors in advocating on behalf of the business community on a broad range of public policy issues that are important to the continued development of the city.”

Mr. Recht has been involved with a variety of housing, land use, development and transportation issues important to the growth of downtown Los Angeles. In addition to his work with CCA, Mr. Recht has been an active member of the L.A. business community for more than 20 years, serving on various boards and committees including as Vice President of the City of Los Angeles Board of Transportation Commissioners, on the boards of Los Angeles Business Council, Public Counsel, and the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, and on the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee.

Mr. Recht, a firm-wide practice leader for Mayer Brown's Government and Global Trade practice, has extensive experience in government regulatory matters, with particular expertise in transportation, health care, land use, trade association and election law matters. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, he served as Chief Counsel and Deputy Administrator of the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
