He is Britain's most successful Paralympic swimmer, having won nine Gold medals and holding seven World Records (one of which remains current). He won Sports Personality of the Year (Variety Club of Great Britain) in 1997.

Sean Connolly, London Senior Partner, Mayer Brown, commented: "We are delighted that Chris has decided to join Mayer Brown. Not only will he be a tremendous asset to the Pensions team as a highly regarded PDL, but the additional experience that he has gained from his work on many social and charitable boards will help Mayer Brown to build on its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility."

Annette Sheridan, Director of Human Resources at Mayer Brown in London, added: "Chris's background is impressive and he will add significant depth to both our legal and non-legal work. It is our ongoing desire to recruit high profile individuals from a variety of backgrounds and with different interests, recognising that such experience and understanding brings valuable diversity to the firm."

Chris Holmes commented: "I look forward to joining the firm, working with the highly regarded Pensions team in London and getting involved with the firm and working with the established committee to help shape the CSR agenda."
