Mayer Brown appointed by private equity firm Pamplona

2 July 2009 – Leading international law firm Mayer Brown has been appointed by UK private equity firm Pamplona Capital Management as it seeks to buy almost one-third of Lloyd's of London insurer Chaucer Holdings.

Chaucer is a specialist insurance and reinsurance underwriting group which underwrites insurance business at Lloyd's, the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance market.

Pamplona increased its stake in Chaucer to 9.99% after buying 9.26% of the company’s shares at 44p last week and are looking to buy up to 29.9% of Chaucer in cash. It has entered into an agreement to increase its stake by 6.28% to 16.27%.
