Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that John Huff has rejoined the firm as a partner in its Real Estate practice in Chicago. Previously, he was a partner with Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP.
“With more than 20 years of experience, John is highly regarded for advising clients on a wide variety of complex real estate transactions,” said Mayer Brown partner Jeff Usow, a co-leader of the firm’s global Real Estate practice. “His diverse skill set will further enhance the range of services we offer, and his longstanding client relationships will expand and create business opportunities for the firm.”
Mr. Huff focuses his practice on a wide range of sophisticated real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development, commercial leasing, debt restructuring and loan transactions. His experience encompasses many property types, such as office, industrial, residential, retail, mobile home park and development land. He is skilled in handling reciprocal easement agreements and other complex easements and covenants for office parks and mixed-use high rise projects. Clients he represents include REITs, real estate funds, banks, insurance companies and other institutional real estate investors.
Mr. Huff’s real estate financing experience includes construction loans, multi-property portfolio loans, CMBS loans and subscription credit facilities. He also has extensive experience with loan restructurings and sale and purchase of distressed debt.

Prior to joining Barack Ferrazzano in 2007, Mr. Huff was an attorney in Mayer Brown’s Real Estate practice from 1987 to 1990 and from 1996 to 2007. He also served as assistant general counsel at The Prime Group, Inc., a firm client, from 1990 to 1996. Mr. Huff received a BA from the University of Michigan – Dearborn (high distinction) and a JD cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
