Mayer Brown to open office in Duesseldorf

17 August 2011

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that it will open a new office in Duesseldorf at the beginning of 2012. The new office will focus initially on corporate, real estate and antitrust matters.

Opening of the new office is part of a reorganization of the firm’s German operations in which its offices in Cologne and Berlin will be merged into the Duesseldorf location. The firm’s Frankfurt office, its largest in Germany, will remain unchanged.

Partner Friedrich Merz will relocate from Berlin to lead the Corporate & Securities practice in Germany. Cologne Partner Christof Gaudig, who serves as a member of the Firm’s Partnership Board, will relocate to Duesseldorf and will assume the additional role of German Global Integration Partner with responsibility for further strengthening activity between the German offices and the rest of the Firm’s global platform.

“These changes will consolidate Mayer Brown’s operations in Frankfurt and Duesseldorf, Germany’s two primary business centers,” said Joerg Wulfken, Managing Partner of Mayer Brown Germany and a member of the firm’s global Management Committee. “Many international corporations and financial institutions have their German headquarters in Duesseldorf, and the city is a stepping stone to the German market for many companies from Asia.”
