Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, has been named “Chicago Tax Firm of the Year” at the 2011 Americas Tax Awards sponsored by International Tax Review.

The firm also was a finalist for six other awards including: “Chicago Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year,”  “New York Tax Firm of the Year,” “Washington Tax Firm of the Year,” “North America Tax Firm of the Year,” “North America Tax Disputes Firm of the Year” and “US Tax Court Firm of the Year.”

“This recognition in one of the tax industry’s most prestigious awards competitions attests to the unsurpassed breadth of capabilities, skill, experience and dedication that Mayer Brown offers clients seeking solutions to their most demanding tax challenges,” said Joel Williamson, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Tax Controversy practice.

The Americas Tax Awards recognize the most innovative tax transactional, structuring, litigation and transfer-pricing work done in North and South America, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and six US cities.  This year’s winners were chosen based on their work over a 12-month period beginning June 2010-June 2011.

Earlier this year, Mayer Brown  was recognized by both Chambers USA and Legal 500 with highest rankings for its Tax Controversy practice for the fifth consecutive year.
