Leading international law firm Mayer Brown is pleased to announce that Martin Mankabady will join the firm's corporate group from Lawrence Graham LLP on 28 July.

Martin has almost 15 years experience, most of it spent advising clients in the insurance sector at his previous firms Lawrence Graham, Norton Rose and Clifford Chance. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions (both private and public), joint ventures and corporate finance, primarily in the insurance and financial services sectors. Martin also advises on general company law, commercial and regulatory matters.

He has advised on a number of complex, high profile deals (often with a cross border element) and has acted for numerous (re)insurance companies, insurance brokers and other intermediaries with an impressive client list including BGL Group and Discovery.

Legal 500 describe him in their latest directory as: "A highly accomplished lawyer with strong expertise in the financial services sector." Chambers also recommends Martin: "Peers expressed the 'utmost respect' for Mankabady and his wealth of experience."

Martin Mankabady said: "Mayer Brown's commitment to growth in London and internationally make it a very exciting time to join the firm. I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues and contributing to the further success of the corporate insurance team."

Peter Dickinson, partner at Mayer Brown and head of the corporate group, said: "This is a significant addition to our insurance industry group of cross practice lawyers. Martin's specialties in insurance focused transactional work together with core commercial work, such as distribution issues, adds an important dynamic to our already strong claims and non-claims team."

Sean Connolly, Mayer Brown's London Senior Partner, added: "Our London office is at the heart of our global growth plans and Martin will add significant depth and breadth to our corporate practice. I have no doubt that he will make a significant contribution at both a domestic and international level."
