23 June 2008

Mayer Brown LLP is advising waste services company Allied Waste Industries Inc (NYSE: AW) in its merger announced today with competitor Republic Services Inc (NYSE: RSG). This transaction unites the No. 2 and No. 3 U.S. waste haulers to create a company with a combined enterprise value of more than $20 billion. The combined companies would have revenue of $9.3 billion. Allied operates in 37 states and Puerto Rico and has about 10 million customers.
