Since 1998, exit tax applies on unrealized gains when taxpayers transfer their tax residence outside of France Though Emmanuel Macron had announced its early abolition in 2019, this tax system has been modified for the third time by French MPs. Fiscal assets over €2,57 million will now have to wait 5 years before having their related tax disregarded.

The French Accounting Standards Authority (Autorité des Normes Comptables - ANC) – the relevant authority enacting French accounting rules – has amended the ANC regulation No. 2014-03 of 5 June 2014 relating to the General Accounting Plan (plan comptable général - PCG) by a regulation No. 2018-07 of 10 December 2018. This regulation will enter into force after approval by the French Ministry for the Economy and its publication in the Official Journal (Journal Officiel).

In a recent decision, the Cour de cassation (the French civil and criminal Supreme Court) has ruled that a delivery rider using the services of an online platform and an app ("Take Eat Easy"), which connects restaurants, clients ordering food, and delivery riders, may be considered to be an employee of such a platform despite having self-employed status.
