Two Mayer Brown teams in Paris receive “Trophées du Droit” awards
Two Mayer Brown teams in Paris have each been recognized by French magazine Décideurs. One team was honored with a “Gold Trophy” for its 2017 international arbitration practice, and the other received a “Silver Trophy” for a silver ranking in 2017 Tax controversy. These awards recognize the rapid growth of teams and activities, a very significant interdisciplinary management, and very complex matters. The International arbitration practice is headed in Paris by partner Dany Khayat, and the Tax Controversy practice by Christopher Lalloz.

Leading French Legal Publication Ranks Private Equity and Management Package Teams in Paris 
Option Finance (Option Droit & Affaires), a leading legal publication in France, has once again recognized the work of Mayer Brown partners in Paris with rankings in two categories:

  • A 5-star (top) ranking for work on mid-cap private equity transactions (€50 to €300 million), for the fourth consecutive year
  • A 3-star ranking for work on management equity plans in LBO transactions, for the fourth consecutive year

Décideurs Juridiques Names Dany Khayat a “Rising Star”
Partner Dany Khayat, who leads Mayer Brown’s International Arbitration practice in Paris, has been named a “Rising Star of the Business Bar” for 2015 by Décideurs Juridiques (Legal Decision Makers), a leading French legal publication. The 30 “Rising Stars” are “la crème de la crème”—“talented, hard working, ambitious” lawyers admitted to the Paris bar between 2000 and 2007.

Paris Practice Teams Receive Top Rankings for 2015 Work
In its annual M&A Guide, leading French legal publication Décideurs Juridiques (Legal Decision Makers) recognized Mayer Brown’s Corporate & Securities and Tax Transactions & Consulting practices in Paris with a top, “Indispensible” ranking in two categories:

  • M&A activity in transactions from €75 to €500 million
  • Tax structuring activity.

Leading French legal publication ranks Corporate & Securities team in Paris for its mid cap M&A activity.
In its October 2015 issue, Option Finance / Option Droit des Affaires, a leading legal magazine in France, awards the Corporate & Securities team in Paris with a 4 star ranking for its mid cap M&A activity (transactions < € 200 mil.). Partners Xavier Jaspar, Guillaume Kuperfils, Erwan Heurtel, Olivier Aubouin, Thomas Philippe, Emily Pennec, Alexandre Dejardin, Pascal Druhen-Charnaux are named.

International Tax Review Recognizes Mayer Brown with a Top Tax Award
Mayer Brown was named “Americas Technology and Telecommunications Tax Deal of the Year” at the 2015 Americas Tax Awards sponsored by International Tax Review. The Firm advised on Altice’s acquisition of Suddenlink. Lawyers in Mayer Brown’s Tax Transactions & Consulting practice advised Altice on the structuring of the transaction. The team included partners Laurent Borey, Olivier Parawan (both Paris), Jason Bazar (NY) and Lee Morlock (Chicago) and associates Nathalie Jacquart, Nicolas Danan (both Paris), Moe Worsley and Chris Mayer (both NY).

Women in Business Law recognizes Nathalie Jalabert-Doury as expert in Competition & Distribution

Leading French legal publication ranks Tax team in Paris
Option Droit & Affaires (Option Finance), a leading legal publication in France, has recognized the Tax work of Mayer Brown partners in Paris – June 2014 to June 2015 - with rankings in three categories: 

  • A 5-star (top) ranking for their work on “tax transactions advisory”; 
  • A 3-star ranking for their work on “companies tax litigation and controversy ”; and 
  • A 3-star ranking for their work on “transfer pricing ”.

27 Mayer Brown lawyers with 32 total rankings in 25 practice categories were recognized by Chambers Europe 2015, including five lawyers who achieved a total of six Band One or higher rankings. Among those recognized, three are Band One for Paris: Laurent Borey (Tax), Xavier Jaspar and Guillaume Kuperfils (both Private Equity: Mid-Market).

Mayer Brown was also ranked in 19 practice categories. Of these, five are Band One, two of which are for France: Corporate/M&A: Mid-Market, for the third consecutive year and Private Equity: Mid-Market, for the seventh consecutive year.

Leading French Legal Publication Gives Paris Tax Team Top Rankings
Le Magazine des Affaires, a leading legal industry publication in France, has awarded the Paris Tax Transactions & Consulting practice led by partner Laurent Borey a number one ranking in the M&A Structuring and LBO Structuring categories for 2014. The publication highlighted the team’s work on Altice Numericable’s €13.5 billion acquisition of SFR and Altice’s €7 billion acquisition of Portugal Telecom.

  • The Corporate & Securities practice received Silver Trophies for the Mergers & Acquisitions Mid-Large Cap and the Leverage Buyout Mid-Large Cap categories; and
  • The Tax Transactions & Consulting practice received the Silver Trophy for the Tax Transactions category.

One of the most prestigious awards competitions in France, these  awards “recognize the work of professionals who, through their passion, inspiration and leadership, advance our great profession,” the publication says.
