The International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) has awarded Mayer Brown JSM senior associate Justine Lau the Fetner Award at its 12th Annual Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C. Based in Hong Kong and as a non-US member, Justine Lau is recognized for her exceptional contributions to drive and commitment, resulting in the growth of IWIRC in Australia while she champions IWIRC in the Asia-Pacific region. Through her leadership, the IWIRC Hong Kong Network has expanded its educational programming and networking events with increased membership and sponsorship in the past years.
Justine has been a IWIRC member since 2008, she is currently an At-Large Director and held the position as Co-Chair of the Hong Kong Network in 2013.
“It is an honour to be recognised in an organisation which champions the interests of women in what has historically been a very male-dominated profession. The Firm has been, and continues to be, very supportive of my participation in IWIRC initiatives for which I am very grateful,” said Justine.
Justine was also the recipient of the 2012 IFLR Asia Women in Business Law “Rising Star" award. IFLR recognized her professional accomplishments in Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Insolvency practice, as well as her advocacy and influence in the industry.
The Fetner Award was founded in 2004, in honor of IWIRC founding Vice Chair, Martha Fetner. The annual award is given to an international (non-US) member or network who or which has made an exceptional contribution, either through efforts over the past year, or over a period of years.
