The new PRC rules requiring foreigners working in China and their employers to make social insurance contribution in respect of pension, medical care, work-related injury, unemployment and maternity insurance commenced on 15 October 2011. So far, there has been very little guidance on the implementation of the rules. The rules raise many questions for employers operating in the PRC, including:
