Mayer Brown receives perfect score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2015 Corporate Equality Index

21 November 2014

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, is proud to announce that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Mayer Brown joins the ranks of 364 major US businesses which also earned top marks this year.

The 2015 CEI rated 972 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. Mayer Brown’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

“Diversity and inclusion are hallmarks of Mayer Brown’s heritage and will be key drivers of our future success,” said Jeremiah DeBerry, Mayer Brown’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion. “The firm is committed to providing our lawyers and staff with opportunities to realize their potential regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.”

Mayer Brown’s Committee on Diversity & Inclusion is involved in several LGBT rights initiatives. The firm serves as a national sponsor of the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, a leading legal services organization seeking to establish and protect LGBT civil rights. Additionally, each year the firm sponsors several LGBT community organizations.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.
