This webinar, a collaboration between Mayer Brown and Transparency International UK, considers the questions around corruption risks in the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sector during times of crisis.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has challenged the world’s health systems and medical research beyond anything in our lifetime.  News-headlines have been dominated by the stampede to develop treatments, diagnostics and an effective vaccine in record time and by the challenge of manufacturing and procuring sufficient ventilators and personal protective equipment.  But the pandemic has thrown up another big question.  Midst the disruption and uncertainty, how should health systems and pharma guarantee the millions of dollars and pounds flowing in to the global response are spent with a focus on economy, efficiency, efficacy and equity?

Rachel Cooper, Director of Transparency International Health Initiative, and Mihaly Fazekas, scientific director of the Government Transparency Institute, discuss these questions in this webinar. Following their reflections, James Ford, associate in Mayer Brown’s London Compliance and Investigations team, leads a Q&A session.
