Manuel Velez guides clients to favorable results in intellectual property disputes in a wide range of industries, including life sciences, high tech, and consumer electronics. His experience runs the full gamut, from conducting pre-case assessments, managing litigations, to serving as trial counsel for companies involved in high-stakes litigation in federal courts. In addition to litigation, Manuel performs due diligence in connection with M&A transactions, including providing freedom-to-operate opinions. Manuel has B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Biology. Before joining private practice, Manuel served as a law clerk to Judge Gustavo A. Gelpí, US District Court for the District of Puerto Rico (now U.S. Circuit Court Judge for the First Circuit).

- BASF Corporation in trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract litigation involving a pioneering process used to make lithium-ion batteries.
- BOE in trade secret investigation at the ITC over OLED displays used in Apple smartphones.
- Gilead in Hatch-Waxman litigation involving Lexiscan®, a stress agent given in preparation for a radiologic (x-ray) examination of blood flow through the heart to test for coronary artery disease.
- Alexion in a patent infringement suit involving Ultomiris®, an improved C5 inhibiting biologic with a pH-dependent recycling effect.
- Sanofi-aventis in patent infringement suit involving Elitek®, a popular treatment for certain side effects of anti-cancer therapy. Successfully moved for summary judgment of non-infringement.
