Adam Hickey offers clients extensive experience in cybersecurity, sanctions, export controls, the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), criminal law, federal surveillance statutes, and other national security authorities.

Adam draws on more than 15 years of experience at the US Department of Justice (DOJ) handling high-profile national security matters intersecting with the private sector. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, he was a Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG) of DOJ's National Security Division (NSD) and an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York (SDNY).

Expérience

Representative matters include:

  • Counseling enterprises through ransomware attacks, nation-state sponsored intrusions, and other security incidents in the financial services, telecommunications, technology, manufacturing, defense contractor, and aerospace sectors, in some cases involving portfolio companies of private equity firms;
  • Representing those clients in ensuing regulatory inquiries and civil lawsuits (class actions), such as defense of a leading health insurance company from claims in class actions stemming from the exploitation of a vulnerability in software used by their vendor;
  • Advising companies on the US Department of Justice’s Data Security Program, and US Department of the Treasury’s Outbound Investment Security Program, by providing legal advice on interpretation of the regulations and implementation of compliance measures;
