Phil Brandes is a partner in Mayer Brown's New York office and a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice.  He represents strategic and financial investors in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, debt and equity securities offerings, bank financings, joint ventures and restructurings, frequently with a cross-border dimension.  He has particular experience advising private equity sponsors across a wide variety of industries. International Finance and Law Review's Guide to the World's Leading Financial Law Firms recommended Mr. Brandes as a leading U.S. M&A lawyer, noting his "great responsiveness," "good manner" and "quality advice."  In 2015, Global M&A Network named Mr. Brandes among the top 20 M&A lawyers in North America.  Mr. Brandes serves as a trustee of PublicPrep, a leading charter school network in New York City, and has done further pro bono work for the NAACP and U.S. Squash. 

Since joining Mayer Brown, Mr. Brandes has worked in both our New York and Frankfurt offices.  He is fluent in German.
