Mayer Brown expands Public Policy, Regulatory & Government Affairs practice with noted four-person team led by Mac Bernstein and John Merrigan in DC

Mayer Brown announced today that a renowned public policy team led by partners Matthew (Mac) Bernstein and John Merrigan, joined the firm’s Public Policy, Regulatory & Government Affairs practice in Washington DC. In addition to Mac and John, the team includes Jessica Woolley, a senior advisor, and Stephanie Jebeyli, a public policy advisor. The team joins from Dentons Global Advisors LLC.

Working at the intersection of business, law and federal policy, the team has handled some of the most complex, high stakes legal, regulatory, legislative, investigatory, and policy matters in recent years.

“Mac and John have a wealth of experience in a range of legal and policy areas—from government investigations to high-stakes rulemakings and litigation,” added Howard Waltzman, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Public Policy, Regulatory & Government Affairs practice.

Mac has more than 30 years’ experience representing businesses, public sector and nonprofit enterprises on high-stakes, complex strategies. He regularly designs and implements collaborative solutions with government stakeholders, builds public-private partnerships and executes multidisciplinary advocacy strategies on a wide range of issues. He works closely with US and foreign government policymakers and local communities on international policy, sustainable development and public international law matters, and he advises and represents clients before Congress and the executive branch on an array of policy issues and government investigations.

John brings more than 50 years’ experience representing clients before the US government on a wide variety of legal, regulatory and public policy matters. He regularly represents corporate, sovereign and nonprofit clients before US government institutions and agencies on a diverse range of matters, including congressional and related investigations, regulatory compliance and complex policy matters.

Jessica has nearly two decades of public policy advocacy experience on behalf of a wide range of clients before US and foreign government institutions and regulatory agencies. She advises clients on a diverse range of legislative and administrative policy issues, including foreign policy and development, international trade, climate innovation and resilience, and economic policy. Jessica worked for several years in the US House of Representatives.

Stephanie has broad experience representing business, sovereign and nonprofit clients on a wide range of legal, administrative and public policy matters, including congressional and administrative investigations, regulatory compliance and public advocacy before the Executive Branch, Congress and independent agencies.
