Mayer Brown was named a “Champion for Children” by Children’s Law Center (CLC) for the sixth consecutive year. This annual award recognizes the firm’s generosity in total annual contributions to CLC and dedication to improving the lives of children.

“We are grateful for Mayer Brown’s continued dedication to expanding access to justice for DC children and families,” said CLC Executive Director Judith Sandalow. “Their continued committed to fundraisers in support of our mission and their pro bono work – especially in education equity – has led to many victories for DC kids, including students with disabilities facing barriers to critical support in school. Their passion for service is matched by the skills they bring to this work.”

CLC is a campaign partner of “Making the Case for Kids,” Mayer Brown’s multidimensional community service and pro bono campaign aimed at supporting children and education initiatives. The firm’s fundraising and pro bono work is helping to address issues of learning loss and difficulties returning to in-person education, as well as helping families secure healthy housing conditions.

“We are honored to receive this award from a partner for over a decade,” said Liz Stern, the managing partner of the firm’s Washington DC office. “We’re especially proud that our partnership with CLC has not only reached children and families through individual advocacy, but also through systemic changes that will improve education across the District.”

CLC is DC’s largest nonprofit legal services provider. The organization works with DC children and families, community partners and pro bono lawyers toward a future where every child can grow up with a strong foundation of family, health and education and live in a world free from poverty, trauma, racism and other forms of oppression.
