London — Mayer Brown has been recognized as one of the UK's most family-friendly employers following the release of the Top Employers for Working Families 2020 list compiled by the work-life balance charity, Working Families.

The annual list of large and small employers from across the public, private and third sectors is now in its eleventh year. Employers were assessed and scored on four areas — integration to organizational strategy and culture; policy; consistent practice and evidence — to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices. This year's benchmark captures the experience of nearly 350,000 UK employees across the organizations that took part.

"To be named one of the Top 30 Employers for Working Families in the UK for the fifth consecutive year is a fantastic achievement", said Andrew Block, Employment & Benefits-Pensions partner and co-chair of the London Work & Me Network at Mayer Brown. "This did not happen by accident — it is the result of a lot of thought and hard work. Our family-friendly and flexible practices are embedded in our workplace culture and are an investment in the long-term health, wellbeing and productivity of our people."

Alexandra Wood, Restructuring counsel and co-chair of the London Work & Me Network at Mayer Brown, added: "The global pandemic has been challenging in so many ways and the family-friendly practices provided at Mayer Brown have proved to be an essential part of our diverse and inclusive working environment. They offer our people the support that they need to succeed, which in turn enables Mayer Brown to provide its clients with the service they expect. Helping our people balance work and family commitments is a top priority for our firm."

"We are delighted to recognize the 30 outstanding organizations that made our Top Employers for Working Families list this year,” said Jane van Zyl, Chief Executive of Working Families.

“COVID-19 has demonstrated just how vital it is for employers to support the diverse needs of their staff team and build cultures that embrace flexible working. These employers excelled in our rigorous benchmarking process, proving they are leading the way in building family-friendly workplaces in the UK."
