Mayer Brown has continued the expansion of its projects and infrastructure capabilities with the arrival of Mark Williams, who joins the firm as a partner in the Corporate & Securities practice in Washington DC. Mr. Williams was previously at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

“Mark has earned widespread recognition as a skilled and knowledgeable regulatory attorney focused on supporting leading investors in renewable energy and conventional power assets,” said Kevin Sheridan, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Global Corporate & Securities Practice and Infrastructure Investment team. “He is a great addition to our global team dedicated to serving our clients on energy and infrastructure investments around the world.”

For nearly 30 years, Mr. Williams has advised on electricity and gas investments, financings, mergers, acquisitions, securities and restructuring transactions for clients in the electric power and natural gas industries. He has advised banks, insurers, pension funds, multinational institutional investors, hedge funds, private equity funds, and traditional investment funds on the complex regulatory requirements applicable to electricity and gas investments.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Williams was the sole attorney in the Division of Corporate Applications of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. In that role, he advised the commission on merger, divestiture, financing, independent power, and electrical transmission system matters, and led more than 100 commission orders in transactional-regulatory matters.

“I was drawn to Mayer Brown by the quality and character of its lawyers, as well as the firm’s commitment to providing clients with world-class service on complex energy project financings, corporate transactions and portfolio management issues,” said Mr. Williams. “I am excited to join the firm and contribute to its growing Corporate & Securities practice.”

“We are fortunate to bring Mark on, particularly given the notable reputation he’s built in the electric power and natural gas industries,” said Raj De, the managing partner of Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office. “Mark’s arrival is another example of our ongoing effort to enhance our energy and infrastructure capabilities in Washington DC and globally.”
