The new Companies Ordinance came into effect on 3 March 2014. This is a comprehensive rewrite of the ordinance that went into effect in 1933 and remained in effect, with piecemeal changes, for more than 80 years. The changes and initiatives introduced by this new ordinance are extensive and will affect not only companies registered in Hong Kong but also their shareholders, directors, creditors and investors.

This page is designed to help you navigate the key areas of change and their implications. Explore the links to our Legal Updates and articles under News & Publications, which will help you understand how the new ordinance affects you and your organisation.
