TEI 2009 State and Local Tax Course 09 State & Local Tax Course
November 17-21, 2009
Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
Focusing mainly on state corporate income taxation, the course will begin by addressing key concepts such as nexus, calculation of the corporate income tax, allocation and apportionment, and filing methodologies. Given the growing importance of financial reporting matters to tax professionals, the course will also cover FAS 5, FAS 109, and FIN 48, as well as the evolving subject of international financial reporting standards (or IFRS). The course will culminate in a mock appellate hearing that promises to be both informative and entertaining.
Richard A. Leavy, partner in Mayer Brown's New York office, will present the session, "The Ethics of Tax Practice: A Practical Guide for Tax Lawyers to the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct."
