Service Levels, or KPIs as they are sometimes called, can align incentives and drive business value. Often, though, service levels and KPIs measure the wrong things, are defined too vaguely to be enforced, or fail to provide adequate incentives for supplier performance. Whether in a direct or indirect supply agreement or an outsourcing agreement, there are basic rules that apply to the selection and drafting of service levels and KPIs that will drive business value.
