Investment Challenges and Opportunities in Life Sciences: China and US

Join Mayer Brown as we host distinguished guests from China's Ministry of Commerce and the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce (CIPA) who are in the United States with a delegation of Chinese pharmaceutical companies actively looking for business opportunities.

Explosive growth in the Chinese market has created interest in both inbound investment into China and outbound investment into US life sciences companies. CIPA is the investment promotion agency of the People's Republic of China and handles two-way investment promotion work in line with China's economic strategies. It is engaged in cooperation with international economic organizations, foreign investment promotion agencies, chambers of commerce and business associations on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce.

Please join us for a series of discussions on the developments, opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese outbound investment in the US life sciences sector. We will cover both the scope for investment into China as well as Chinese investment into the US. The Chinese companies involved are interested in making new business contacts in the US and there will be excellent opportunities for introductions to be made to both the Government and Chinese business people present.

Program Highlights

  • Investing in China in the life sciences industry (pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical devices). Presented by both Mayer Brown and CIPA delegation members.
  • Chinese investing into the US and the major business and legal issues faced by Chinese companies seeking to invest in life sciences companies in the US. Presented by Mayer Brown partners.
  • Luncheon presentation by Susan Schwab, Strategic Advisor in Mayer Brown's Government and Global Trade practice, who offers cross-practice and cross-office counsel to Mayer Brown's clients on a wide range of issues and policies. Formerly, she was US Trade Representative during the Bush Administration.
