Global Strategies Webinar Series – Anti-Corruption Compliance in Brazil: The Challenges Facing US Companies
Wednesday, December 8, 2010
Mayer Brown is pleased to announce the launch of a new webinar series, Global Strategies: Doing Business Internationally. Focusing on the challenges and issues companies face when conducting business internationally, each session will feature a discussion of various issues relevant to US companies conducting business in countries around the globe.
The largest economy in Latin America, Brazil has been a magnet for a wide range of US-based businesses – aircraft, energy, machinery, medical products, information technology, financial services, telecommunications and many more. However, the booming Brazilian market poses risks as well as opportunities.
For the first event in our series, Simeon M. Kriesberg, partner from Mayer Brown’s Washington, DC office and Bruno D. Werneck, partner at Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown LLP in São Paulo, will focus on compliance with US and Brazilian anti-corruption laws and address such questions as:
- What are the primary risks arising in Brazil under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act?
- What specific FCPA violations have been identified in enforcement actions relating to business conduct in Brazil?
- What types of activities are subject to Brazilian anti-corruption law?
- What lessons can be drawn from the enforcement of Brazilian anti-corruption law to date?
