Developing the 21st Century: Land Use, Construction Law and Project Finance in the Built Environment

This multi-disciplinary investigation of critical built environment issues will explore community benefits agreements and the “disconnect” between local land use practices and regional smart growth and sustainability agendas; modernizing public construction procurement laws for all public owners; and necessary statutory conditions for modernizing public finance laws, in particular the authorization of public-private partnerships in New York State.

The New York City Bar Association has gathered a stimulating group of speakers for this event, including George Miller from Mayer Brown’s Global Infrastructure practice as moderator of the finance panel, along with Joseph Aiello, CEO of Meridiam Infrastructure; Samara Barend, VP of Strategic Development and Director for Public-Private Partnerships, North America, AECOM; and Gerald Stoughton, Director, Office of Financial Analysis, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
