Christopher (Chris) Odell is a senior associate in Mayer Brown's Chicago office and a member of the Tax Transactions & Consulting practice. Chris represents clients on a wide range of tax matters, including planning the tax aspects of taxable and tax-free mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other restructuring transactions. As a member of the firm’s Fund Formation & Investment Management practice, Chris also regularly represents fund sponsors in all aspects of the structuring and operation of private investment funds, including the operation of partnerships, limited liability companies and real estate investment trusts (REITs), and foreign investment in the United States under FIRPTA. In addition, Chris advises underwriters on the tax aspects of issuing representation and warranty insurance and other types of transactional insurance in connection with M&A deals.
