Hong Kong-based Real Estate partner Alan Yip is quoted in the article by Sing Tao Daily on the compulsory sale of the State Theatre for redevelopment.

In this article, Alan explained the court decision that according to the Tribunal the grading system of the Antiquities Advisory Board (AAB) is considered an administrative measure which does not lead to the statutory protection of declared monuments, as imposed by the Antiquities and Monument Ordinance. Alan commented that the compulsory sale of the first grade 1 historic building in North Point will become a precedent for similar applications and will have a considerable impact on the future compulsory sale redevelopment market in Hong Kong. He expects this will boost developers’ confidence in developing similar projects.
